Ask ten web builders what a website costs and all ten say it depends. True, but the client pays for that answer in meetings. So our prices are now on the site.
Ask ten web builders what a website costs and you get the same answer ten times: it depends, let us set up a call. Which is true. It really does depend.
The client pays for that answer, though. Anyone comparing three suppliers is three introductory meetings in before hearing a first number. And the builder in that meeting often knows within five minutes that the budget is not there.
So as of today, our prices are simply on the site.
What is on the page
A basic website with its own CMS costs 750 euro one off. That includes a theme of your own, two languages, the SEO basics and two rounds of revisions during the build.
Want a shop, then add 500 euro for a Shopify connection. Shopify handles payment, VAT and security; their subscription and transaction fees are billed by them directly. Want AI across the site, for pages, blog posts and SEO, that is 250 euro.
Extras have a fixed price each: 45 euro for a page we write and fill, 40 euro for a blog post we write, 150 euro for an extra language. And there is a monthly plan for hosting, domain and maintenance, from 9.50 euro.
All excluding VAT, and on the page itself you can put it together yourself. Tick what you need and the amount appears straight away.
Why a fixed price is possible
A fixed price only works when the work has edges. That is exactly what the packages do: a set template, a set number of revision rounds, a clear line around what is included.
Once the design and the structure are approved, that is the starting point. A change of direction after that is extra work. It sounds strict, but it is the only way to name a price up front without padding it with a margin that you end up paying.
The hourly rate is on there too
Extra work costs 65 euro per hour, security work 85 euro. I could have left that out.
I did think about it, because an hourly rate puts people off. Mostly it puts the wrong people off. Anyone who walks away at 65 euro was never going to pay it, and then neither of us has spent a meeting finding that out. Anyone who finds it reasonable knows where they stand.
It sits at the bottom of the page rather than the top. Most of the work has a fixed price; the hourly rate is for what falls outside it.
What is not included
Hosting and domain registration are part of the monthly plan, not the build price. Third party subscriptions such as Shopify are paid directly to that party. And if you would rather have WordPress, that is possible, but then the price depends on the theme and the plugins you need.
That kind of thing belongs on a pricing page. Naming a figure and staying quiet about the costs around it is worse than naming no figure at all.
What this gives you
You can now work out in five minutes whether it fits your budget, without booking a call and without leaving your details. If it does not fit, you know that too, and you have saved yourself an afternoon.
And if you do want to go ahead, the conversation starts much further along: not at roughly what it costs, but at what you actually want.
