Got a project where a website needs building or speeding up, AI needs to be put to work, or a process needs a hard look? Then you can hire me, freelance or employed.
What you hire me for
If you have a project that needs technical hands or a sharp second opinion, you can hire me. It usually starts with a website that should perform better, a process that eats too much time, or a plan for AI with no execution behind it yet. I work for clients directly, not through a chain of intermediaries.
Building and improving websites
From a new site to fixing up what is already there. Speed, technique, findability and multiple languages. Also when the previous builder has left and nobody knows the code any more.
Putting AI to work
Assistants, chat on your own knowledge base, content and automated handling. Introduced step by step, in a spot where it actually saves time, not as a demo that stops working after a month.
Reviewing processes
Finding out where the work gets stuck and what can be done about it. Sometimes that is automation, often it is something simpler first: one step removed, one connection added, a form that asks less.
Advice and a second opinion
Looking along before you commit to a choice. Reviewing an agency quote, examining an architecture, or thinking through the order in which to tackle something.
Freelance or employed
Either works. As a freelancer I work per project at a fixed price, or by the hour for work that is hard to scope up front. For longer stretches that can also mean secondment, a few days a week inside your team.
If you are looking for someone on the payroll instead, that is open for discussion. I take that conversation seriously when the work makes sense and there is something to build. I would rather say so up front than have us find out the long way round.
Rates and terms are discussed beforehand, including for a first estimate. You will not get an invoice for an introductory call.
Training, workshops and advisory
Besides building, I run sessions for teams on request. Over 25 years in the trade, and the examples come from real assignments.
Team training on AI tooling for small and mid-sized companies, the basics of process automation, or writing with AI without it reading like AI.
Strategic advisory: half a day going through a process or a website, after which you walk out with concrete next steps.
Sparring on a decision: for owners stuck on a technical or strategic choice. An hour is often enough.
No vacancies at the moment
Altena IT & Automation is a one-person company. Nothing is open right now and I am not looking to hire anyone in either. If that changes, you will read it on this page; this is where I post it.
So an open application or a proposal to collaborate has little use. I do read them, but with no assignment behind it there is nothing I can do with it, and a reply often does not follow. That is not unwillingness, there is simply nothing there to build on.
Got a project in mind?
Send a short email with what needs to happen, what is there now and when you want it done. A few sentences and a link are enough. I will let you know whether I see something in it, roughly what it costs and when I could start.
